"In recent years, the International Contemporary Ensemble has proved itself one of the most adventurous and accomplished groups in new music." (New York Times)

Five musicians of the thirty member International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) perform chamber music by 20th century composers George Crumb, Steve Reich, John Adams, Philippe Hurel, and Tristan Murail. As one of America’s leading performers and presenters of contemporary classical works, ICE promises to welcome the audience into a different kind of listening approach to this music.  Founded in 2001, ICE performs over fifty concerts a year in the United States and abroad.  The program will include John Adams’ Road Movies played by Jacob Greenberg and Stillwater native, Erik Carlson, and George Crumb’s iconic Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale) for amplified  flute, amplified cello, and amplified piano.
