ST. CROIX CONCERT SERIES ANNOUNCES
2007-2008 CONCERT LINE-UP
The St. Croix Concert Series, in its 9 th season, is pleased to announce its lineup for 2007-2008. Concerts this year include performances by South America's most celebrated chamber orchestra, the Twin Cities' finest male choral group ensemble, one of today's most exciting young string quartets, and an award winning pianist.
The season kicks off November 9 th, at 7:30, with a concert by the Camerata Barlioche chamber orchestra from Argentina. Music will include masterpieces by European and Latin American composers including Mozart and Piazolla. Concertgoers are invited to mingle with the musicians after the performance while enjoying desserts and coffee from the Lake Elmo Inn. The concert will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church; all tickets for this season opener are only $10.
Cantus, one of America's finest professional male vocal ensembles, will be returning for the third straight year, January 18th. A perennial crowd pleaser with Stillwater roots, the group's repertoire spans many periods and genres, including folk music, spirituals, Gregorian chant, jazz, and pop. Concertgoers are invited meet and greet the group after the concert at Cesare's Wine Bar in Stillwater.
The Biava String Quartet, recognized as one of today's top young musical string quartets, will be performing February 29 th . In addition to the Friday night performance, the quartet will give presentations and conduct masters' classes at local Junior high and elementary schools.
The season wraps up on April 4 th with a performance by piano virtuoso, Awadagin Pratt. Pratt is known for his musical insight and playing intensity. He's played with major orchestra throughout the U.S., Europe and Japan, and is a guaranteed crowd pleaser.
