Winner of the prestigious Naumburg Chamber Music Award, the Biava Quartet is recognized as one of today's top young American string quartets. Having established an enthusiastic following in the United States and abroad, the Quartet captured top prize at the London International String Quartet Competition, where it was one of only a few American quartets to have ever received an award. In addition to Friday night's performance, the Quartet will give presentations at Oak-Land Junior, Stillwater Junior, and Lake Elmo Elementary schools. A Thursday evening master class for student quartets will be open to the public for observation.

Pianist Awadagin Pratt is critically acclaimed for his musical insight and intensely involving performances. Winner of the Naumburg International Piano Competition and the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Mr. Pratt is a sought-after soloist with major orchestras throughout the U.S., Europe, and Japan. He is conductor and Professor of Piano at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. Mr. Pratt will give a recital at Boutwells Landing for senior citizens.
